Nailed it

Earlier in the year, I developed an obsession with watching Nailed It! on Netflix. The series is a reality bake-off competition where three amateur bakers compete to replicate complicated cakes and confectionery in order to win a cash prize and a “nailed it” trophy. Usually, their offerings are truly horrendous – and it makes for a good giggle with friends.

“Nailed it” means to get something right, perfect even. These bakers did not get their cakes perfect.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it.  For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.

The gift of Holy Spirit to us is more than just a confirmation we are saved. He is also our access to our ‘new creation benefits’.

In the second round of Nailed it! the bakers have a panic button which they can press and have three minutes of help from a professional. One of Holy Spirit’s roles is that of ‘helper’ – but we get Him permanently rather than for three minutes.

Holy Spirit loves to help us grow more into the image of Christ, He loves to help us walk in obedience and grow in extending God’s Kingdom. He loves to remind us of God’s truths and helps us know what to say. He helps us ‘nail’ our sinful, fleshly habits and walk in line with Gods best for us.

Tonight, take some time to ask Holy Spirit to make Himself known to you. Ask Him to help you live in the new life Jesus came to give you. Ask Him to flow through you as you walk through this season. If you like play some music and relax into focussing your mind on these prayers. I love this Christmas music below.
