Romans 8:9: The Hopefuelled are fuelled by being His Dwelling Place
“Pleased, as man, with men to dwell, Jesus, our Emmanuel!”
We’ve been singing this beautiful version of the carol in our Gospel Choir. It’s actually, at least for this year, my favourite carol and this version is just **goose pimples**
At Chrismas, we remember that God was pleased to dwell, pleased to abide with us. Emmanuel literally means “God with us”. Yet just over 30 years later, it seemed like “God with us” would be no more. It wasn’t the end though, it was the begining of a new era, of God dwelling with us through Holy Spirit
“I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. Even on the male and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit”
You who are in Christ are new creation: the old has passed, the new is here! You are a dwelling place of the Spirit of God
And in him, you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
This advent, thank God for saving you. Thank him for his gift of Holy Spirit and ask Him to help you understand what that means for your life. Ask for Holy Spirit to become more noticeable in your life.
