The only true way to grow muscle is to exercise it. Read through Colossians 2:6 to the end of the chapter. Paul sets out our Hope Fuel here:
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
Receive Christ as Lord now Live your Life in Him
Paul goes into detail throughout the rest of this chapter about how this looks in practice. The deeper roots go, the less we will be moved by shifting circumstances or what people say (v.8, 16-23). As our roots go down, we also build upwards and we walk/live our lives in Him. Jesus our cornerstone.
“They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
Plant Ourselves by the River
In the last post we talked about reminding ourselves of who God is. Reminding ourselves of the cross, of salvation (see verses 9-15), Celebrating on our own and with others that we are forgiven and free, alive in Him and standing in victory!
We strengthen our faith by exercising it! For me – I don’t really exercise well at home, those fitness Youtubers just don’t cut it for me. I exercise best at bootcamp. Bootcamp is a group of people I can laugh with and be encouraged by to achieve more. Bootcamp is lead by PT who will push us further than we would push ourselves, because she knows better than us, but who would never be cruel!
Find your squad this year – who can encourage you? Who can lead you?
Society has suddenly come round to the understanding that gratitude works! It changes our mindset (especially when we say it out loud) Paul encourages us to overflow in thankfulness!
Think over the last few days: what are you thankful for – make a list and then read it out loud!
We pray that this year – Jesus will be your cornerstone as you are built up in him!
